about

KAOSO is about the primal void state of chaos, as described by Ovid (43 B.C.-17 or 18 A.D.) in book 1 of his narrative poem, Metamorphoseon (English translation follows):

"Before the ocean and the earth appeared,
before the skies had overspread them all,
the face of Nature in a vast expanse
was naught but Chaos uniformly waste.
It was a rude and undeveloped mass,
that nothing made except a ponderous weight;
and all discordant elements confused,
were there congested in a shapeless heap."

As with the previous EPs, KAOSO was made using the raw data of the cover photograph (digital image converted to sound, and later manipulated). The key difference here is that the past EPs were constructed very deliberately over time, albeit via an intuitive process, while the tracks on KAOSO were fully improvised and are presented here just as they were recorded with no editing or post production. In fact, this hasn't even been mastered, which seemed appropriate given the theme.

Headphones are suggested, but mind the volume.
