Very unique and nicely recorded sounds coming at you from all over the place, interesting and varied ideas and composition, and whilst it is a spontaneously derived collection, this has more depth and seemingly well thought out layers than a lot of people could craft over the course of a long time. Favorite track: Juhuslik.

The sounds created in this project are derived from my past photographic work by converting those images, which serve as both cover art and thematic inspiration, into sound and then manipulating them with a variety of effects. In essence, you are hearing me play the photographs as an instrument.

This release, HAZARDAJ, serves as a retrospective of sorts. Rather than using the raw data of a single photograph for the entire release, I used the raw data from seven of my recent albums (some of which may not be released yet by the time this comes out), plus the raw data of the cover artwork on the title track. 

Speaking of the cover art, it was actually created from a photograph of mine that I heavily manipulated in 2007 as a random experiment. It was the one and only time I made something like this and I have always been drawn in by it each time I revisit it. Believe it or not, the subject of the photograph is something you likely have in your home right now. 

Thematically, HAZARDAJ is about embracing randomness, shedding inhibitions and being open to change, for better or worse. In my day-to-day life I tend to be rather ponderous and deliberate and one of my goals with this project was to allow myself to be spontaneous and create sounds as intuitively as possible by getting out of my own way. This release is possibly the closest I have come to achieving that original vision and I offer my sincere gratitude to you for making it a part of your personal collection.
